  • Unitech Provides WPA2-Based FIPS 140-2 Mobile Computing Solutions in Partnership with Summit Data Communications and Juniper Networks

    Unitech announces that five of its rugged mobile computers are fully compliant with both WPA2 and FIPS 140-2: the RH767 handheld RFID reader, and the HT680, PA600, PA968, and PA800 mobile computers.  An interface between Summit Data Communications’ WiFi radios in these devices and Juniper Networks Odyssey Access Client FIPS Edition software makes support for WPA2-based FIPS 140-2 security available on these Unitech mobile computers.
    The solution provides mobile workers at federal government installations with secure WiFi communication on their Unitech mobile device by utilizing security that is compliant with WPA2 and FIPS 140-2, usage of EAP authentication to access WiFi networks, and encryption of all transmitted data using a FIPS-certified cryptographic module.

    Only those Unitech mobile computers with Summit WiFi radios and running the Juniper Networks OAC FIPS Edition are compliant when interacting with a wireless LAN that requires WPA2-based FIPS 140-2 security.
